The rural team are based in the Exchange offices, Exchange Street, Driffield from where they cover Yorkshire, parts of North East and the East Midlands. With eight Chartered Surveyors at our disposal we are able to provide advice to clients on all rural matters.

  • David Atkinson

    David Atkinson

    Partner, FRICS FAAV
    David joined Dee Atkinson & Harrison in 1977 after completing 4 years in Lincolnshire gaining experience as an articled student in private practice
    Qualifying as a member of the RICS by correspondence course through Reading University in 1980. He is also a Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers.
    He became a Partner in 1984 and his main area of work includes Land and Estate Management, working for both Landlord and Tenants, Sale, Lettings, Valuations and General Professional matters relating to Rural Businesses including the sale of Development Land.
    David is also an appointed Agent and Valuer for the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation and is a Partner in a small family farming business.

    Sam is a Member of the RICS and a Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers. Originally from Shropshire, Sam graduated from Reading University and joined Dee Atkinson & Harrison in 1997 to undertake her post graduate training before becoming a Valuer with the East Riding of Yorkshire Council and then the Senior Rural Surveyor in Yorkshire for the National Trust. Sam re-joined Dee Atkinson & Harrison in 2011 and provides professional advice on a range of matters including estate management, valuation, compulsory purchase and compensation, together with sales and lettings and leads the commercial property department.
  • Oliver Stones

    Oliver Stones

    Originating from Yorkshire, Oliver gained an honours degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management from Harper Adams University College, is a Member of the RICS and a Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers.
    After undertaking his initial RICS training in Cambridgeshire, he returned to Yorkshire and became involved with estate management for large institutions. In 2001, he joined a national firm to develop his agency and valuation experience, alongside continuing to provide management advice on traditional landed estates.
    Oliver joined Dee Atkinson and Harrison in 2007 and now provides a broad range of advice to a diverse client base throughout Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and the north of England. He is particularly involved with sales, lettings and acquisitions, estate management, valuations, planning, dispute resolution and general professional matters relating to the ownership and occupation of rural property.
    Oliver is also an appointed Agent and Valuer for the Agricultural Mortgage Corporation and retains an active involvement in a family farming business.

    John is the third generation of the family to practice as an Agricultural Valuer and is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers. John has over 40 years of experience and specialises in sales and purchases of agricultural land and farms, development land and landlord & tenant matters together with land management.

    Davina joined Dee Atkinson & Harrison in 2019, she lives locally and is involved in all aspects of the Yorkshire farming community.  After graduating from the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Rural Land Management, Davina qualified as a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers in 2007 and joins us with 13 year’s experience with a York based firm of Chartered Surveyors, Auctioneers & Valuers.  In 2013 Davina was awarded a prestigious Nuffield Farming Scholarship during which she studied Precision Agriculture and has been an advocate for all things “Agri-Tech”.  She provides professional advice on a range of matters including Estate Management, Valuation, Agency and Agri-Business including the preparation of Grant Applications for farmers looking to adopt the latest technologies. Davina is an RICS Registered Valuer and sits on the RICS Rural Board.

    Rebecca joined the Dee Atkinson and Harrison in 1997 as a graduate after completing her studies in Rural Land Management at Cirencester. She qualified as an Associate (now a Member) of the RICS in 1999, and as a Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers in 2000.
    Rebecca focused her early career on rural estate management and landlord and tenant matters, with some agency and other professional work and was one of the two lead professionals dealing with the change from Arable Area Payments to the Single Payment Scheme.
    Rebecca has developed a special interest and an in depth knowledge of the Agricultural Holdings Act and in particular, succession planning and dispute resolution, and now works throughout the region advising both landlords and tenants. Since having children her role has changed into a flexible Consultant within the Rural Team, working part time.

    Charles is a Cambridge graduate with over 40 years’ experience of estate management and forestry throughout the region. Charles now specialises in Forestry and Woodland Management including advice on valuation and marketing of timber and sporting.

    Amelia joined the Dee Atkinson & Harrison Rural Team in 2020 after graduating with a BSc (Hons) in Agriculture awarded by Harper Adams University. She is currently studying an MSc degree in ‘Sustainable Food and Agriculture Policy’ via distance learning at the Royal Agricultural University with the intention of assisting agricultural businesses to build resilience following the shift in agricultural policy towards environmental and sustainable management practices. A wide range of previous farming experience means Amelia appreciates the practicalities of implementing change on farm and the challenges facing agriculture.

    Camilla joined Dee Atkinson & Harrison in 2021, after having graduated from the Royal Agricultural College in 2014 and trained with a multi-disciplined firm of land agents in Lincolnshire, qualifying as a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers in 2015 and a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 2016. Camilla has a strong livestock background and has her own flock of pedigree sheep alongside her highland ponies, which she competes. Camilla has experience in a broad spectrum of issues including agency, tenancies, government subsidy schemes, farm machinery sales and she is also an RICS Registered Valuer.
